Mrs. Yabom Sesay-Koroma's acceptance speech

BY: YABOM THASLIM SESAY KOROMA - PRESIDENT WASHINGTON METROPOLITAN CHAPTER
Your Excellencies, Imams and Pastors of our community, elders, wives, husbands and distinguished hard working Sierra Leonean ladies and gentlemen, I greet you all in the name of Unity, Progress, Prosperity and Partnership.
We gather here to celebrate victory as well as observe and witness a collective resolution to improve the lot of not only our party and its membership but our beloved nation of Sierra Leone. Without any doubt, this day signifies a renewal of brotherhood, sisterhood and friendship as well as a change in the way and manner we conduct ourselves and the affairs of our party consistent with the call made by our beloved leader H.E Dr. Ernest Koroma for attitudinal and behavioral change; which he sees as a vehicle for socio-economic development in our country.
I am determined to bring about a dynamic financial and attitudinal change in the operations of our Chapter through organizing conferences, workshops, seminars, fund raising, health promotions activities and establishing a strong working relationship with you all and the leadership of our national party. I shall strive to bring about transparency, accountability and dedication to duty in accomplishing our mandate.
Ladies and Gentlemen, of the APC Metropolitan Chapter, as your leader, let me hasten to say this to you in a sterner manner; I cannot steer this ship in the desired direction without your collective and absolute commitment and direction.
You are, I mean all of you, the wind of change. Therefore, I humbly request all of you to blow this wind in the right and positive direction.
Ladies and gentlemen, this dynamic APC Chapter is unquestionably destined for the shores of great success. We can no longer play small. OUR Washington
Metropolitan Area APC Chapter is irrefutably the most vibrant and respected Chapter of the APC leadership. Obviously, we are bestowed with an enviable political clout that could allow us, in the spirit of brotherhood, sisterhood and friendship to mobilize human and financial resources needed for an electoral church down come 2012.
Indeed, we are great enough to call the shots on many national issues but that could only be done through a clear expression of collective willingness and commitment. Any effort that smirks of the requisite collective unity and purpose in delivering on our Chapter mandate, will unconsciously give our political opponents permission to infiltrate and weaken us. Ladies and Gentlemen, this party is a party of unity. I urge you all to put aside the bickering, the negative energy and focus positively on strengthening our resolve to succeed and change the wellbeing of our beloved Sierra Leone. APC, All Peoples Congress, Not Some People’s Congress
Ladies and Gentlemen, Let no one be mistaken here; Sierra Leone politics is different now from what it used to be. Only our collective effort and commitment could assure the national leadership of our party the victory it deserves in its development goals. As your leader, I would like to assure you that, I shall pay any price, bear any burden, meet any hardship, support any one, and oppose any enemy, to assure the survival and the success of not only our Chapter but our beloved party.
Ladies and gentlemen, with unity, there is little we cannot do in a host of cooperative ventures. But if we are divided, there is little we can do as it will be impossible to deliver on our mandate at odds and split. So, ladies and gentlemen, love and unity is all we need to express our commitment to serve our beloved motherland of Sierra Leone.

Ladies and Gentlemen, as trailblazers for other Chapters, let us renew and rekindle our determination, our courage and our strength to move the APC Washington Metropolitan Chapter to the next level. It is time for us to realize that we are too great a Chapter to limit ourselves to self-destruction. We should come together, work together and do great things for our chapter and country.
Ladies and Gentlemen, before I conclude, I would like to extend my heartiest appreciation of the wonderful work done by the planning committee to make this event a successful one. An event of this magnitude requires a great deal of meticulous planning and hard work. Worthy of recognition are the following:
please stand up as I call your name. Chairman of the inauguration committee is a brother and confidant Mr Lamin Fofanah, former N.A Chairman Mr Osman Conteh, former campaign manager ,Mr Mohamed S,Fornah ( A.KA. Pa Yamba Lawyer), Mr. Ahmed Tejan Koroma, Mrs Eunice Kargbo, Mrs Ajara Koroma and Reverend Bobson Bangura. Please join me in a round of applause to recognize these dedicated individuals. A friend in need is a friend indeed.

I would also like to thank my husband, my children, the Sesay family, aunty
Adama and all the women for their undivided support and love shown and given to me throughout my triumphant political journey to the leadership of this Great Chapter
I would also like to take this opportunity to thank all the men in our APC Chapter for acknowledging the pleasant reality that, if we women demonstrate the ability to lead and handle difficult tasks, they will always be willing to let us lead in the same way they have allowed us to manage the Kitchen at home.
Ladies and gentlemen, I know I am taking over a kitchen that is very hot but be rest assured this woman is a firebrand, this woman is a trailblazer, this woman is a fighter who does not quit even when the Kitchen temperature is100 degrees.
I am here to work with you all to ensure political victory for our party, not to give you excuses as to why things did not go right.
I thank you all and God bless.
